Application Control
You are in control. But of what? The optional module IACBOX Application Control gives you more insight on what is going on in your network. It also allows to set rules for specific applications or protocols you want to allow, restrict or deny. The Application Control PRO’s detailed monitoring shows real data, visually presented in meaningful diagrams, show you at a glance which categories and applications cause the most traffic. This makes a good basis to decide which applications should be allowed to consume bandwidth in your network. Filter for applications, ticket or VLANs and look in detail at the top 10 causers.
In the age of on-demand video platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Youtube, it’s clear to everyone that a lot of bandwidth is spent on this, and it’s an important decision whether to allow this and to whom. However, not-so-obvious offenders are often overlooked, such as software updates or online games.
More and better traffic insight
Software updates, movies, video chats, what is important, and for whom? Where does the hotel’s own streaming service have priority, where the learning platform or the gaming server? That is a question of attitude.
To make good decisions about the categories or applications involved, you need insight and an overview. This is where the first strength of Application Control PRO comes into play: detailed monitoring. Real data, visually presented in meaningful diagrams, show you at a glance which categories and applications are causing the most traffic. This gives you a good basis for deciding which applications are allowed to consume bandwidth in your network. Filter by applications, tickets or VLANs and view the top 10 traffic generators in detail.
Individual profiles for user groups
Would you likes to be tarred with the same brush as everybody else? Porbably not. And it just wouldn’t make any sense to treat everyone the same – a child or an adult, a cheap booker or a luxury guest, an employee, the public printer or the director. Distinctive WiFi user groups are a reality in all companies, hotels, hospitals, schools and institutions, you can create individual profiles and assign up to 1,000 bandwidth groups. This allows to distinguish any number of user categories.
And if you have special services that are not included by default, you can even set your own rules. Select the Custom Applications tab to include for example an internal server based on its IP address.
